Snoring is a common problem that occurs when an individual cannot move air freely through the nose or mouth during sleep.  The snoring noise is produced when a high volume of air passes through a restricted airway and hits the soft tissue of the palate and throat causing it to vibrate.  Enlarged tonsils and/or adenoids can also contribute to the obstruction. Although snoring is mainly seen as just a nighttime annoyance, it may be an indicator of a more serious health condition such as sleep apnea. Left untreated it can disrupt households and strain relationships.
